How to reach us

Getting to Bologna

By Air

The closest airport is the Bologna G. Marconi Airport. From there you can reach downtown Bologna in about 15-30 min, depending on traffic and the exact location of your hotel. Taxis (approx. 20-25 Euro) and the Aerobus-BLQ shuttle connecting the airport with the Central Train Station (6 Euro, tickets can be purchased onboard) can be easily found at the airport exit.

Low cost companies also fly to the Bologna G. Marconi Airport.

You can also take a taxi : travel  time is about 15 min. depending on traffic (especially in the rush hours the beltway can be very crowded). It will cost some 20 Euro; There are two taxi company COTABO and TAXICAT-BOLOGNA.

By Train

Bologna is the most important junction of Italy’s ground transportation (railway and road) network.

Through Bologna pass nearly all the railway lines connecting the major Nord-Italian cities (e.g. Milan, Turin, Venice, Trieste, etc.), as well as the Nord-European countries, with the rest of the country and important cities such as Florence, Rome, Naples, etc.

For train links and timetables, see Trenitalia and Italo.

 By Car

Bologna is a hub for three major Highways: A1 connecting Milan-Turin and the North-West to Rome and the South-West cost; A13 connecting Bologna to Padova and the North-East coast (Venice, Trieste); A14 connecting Bologna to Ancona and the South-East coast.

These three Highways are linked by a beltway called Tangenziale which serves also a large part of the local traffic. An inner ring called Circonvallazione (because it has replaced the ancient walls surrounding the city and now mostly destroyed) serves the city traffic (see the map).

Several parts of the city inside the Circonvallazione allow only a restricted car transit. However, visitors may reach their hotels by car, and can avoid being fined if they remember to communicate their car plate number at the reception. Most hotels can assist their guests with car parking facilities.
